Do you ever wonder why Ohio is known as the Buckeye State? Or perhaps you’ve wondered why Ohioans are known as “Buckeyes”? One explanation is directly related to the buckeye tree (which is native to Ohio). While for many years, the Ohio buckeye was considered the state tree of Ohio, the designation was unofficial until 1953, when Ohio Legislature adopted it officially.
